Home means something to me.
It always, but I just realize it more after I'm living in Semarang. Being far away more than 400 km, quite hard for the first time. Having some troubles in payment, should taking care of my own money, and the others.
I find out that ngekos teaches me a lot than just about living. It teaches me how to take care of myself, someday if I have my own house. It teaches me a lot than just management. How to manage your room stay tidy, how to manage your income and outcome, how to make priority and others.
Instead of that, I miss home, literally.
I was being a full-time-stay-at-home kid since I was really kid, and I was feeling comfortable about that. I don't like go out too often, like to the mall, or having recreation with my friends. Yes, I am weird, but I''m okay with that.
I feel way too comfortable with my home, so then, leaving it after so many years, well try to imagine it. But now, in my second year, I started to get used with it. I mean, sometimes I go back when there are long weekends, or in my semester holiday. Or sometimes (no, barely) my mom and sister visit me there. If we can't meet than maybe we just talk through phone, which is enough by now.
For me, ngekost, or stay at home, both have positive and negative sides depend on how we put our perspective. Ngekost like I said, teaches you so many things that you can''t have while you stay at home. While stay at home too much makes you mager (males gerak) or maybe just stay in your comfortable zone, and makes me lazy to do every single thing that I supposed to do.
So you, collegian, don't worry to try ngekost. You'll get the experience through that, but you guys, para perantau, jangan lupa juga buat sowan ke rumah kalau ada libur panjang. Home is where we belong, and where our heart get place there.
-Sorry for my random post
